Contact the Insurer

Notify TATA AIG's call centre about the accident at 1800-266-7780.
Provide the agent with the policy number, accident location, time, damage, etc.
Agent will give you a claim number and direct you to the nearest garage/workshop.
TIP: Don't leave the vehicle unattended or unlocked, as any theft of car parts or accessories thereafter will not be honoured by the insurer.

Get Your Car Inspected

A surveyor shall inspect your car within 2 working days and give on-the-spot approval.
Documents that you need to fill up or submit at this stage include

Claim form
Copy of RC
Copy of driver's license etc.

TIP: Never start repairs on the car without any survey or inspection by the insurer's representative.

Get Back your spruced-up Car

The car shall be released to you post-repair only after your confirmation that the same has been repaired as per your satisfaction.
TATA AIG shall settle the claim directly with the workshop while you will have to pay any balance that wasn't claimable under the policy terms.
Follow these steps when claiming reimbursement from your insurer -
1. Pay for the repairs and collect all invoices & payment receipts from the workshop

2. Approach your nearest insurer branch or courier the documents

3. Be patient. Insurer takes 7-15 days to reimburse, after receipt of completed documents & bills

Contact the Insurer

Notify Reliance General Insurance's call centre about the theft at 1800-3009.
Provide the agent with the policy number, theft location, time, etc.
The agent shall direct you to file an FIR with the police immediately.
After filing an FIR, you need to get back to the agent for filing the claim form & related documents.

Assist with Investigation

Reliance General Insurance may employ specialist investigators to try to trace your car. The specialist often helps you get all the necessary documents from the police.
Usually, the following documents are sought in case of a theft claim -

Claim form
Original Registration Certificate (RC)
Copy of Driving License
Police FIR
Entire set of vehicle keys
Intimation to the RTO that the car has been stolen
Indemnity Bond
Subrogation Letter
No Objection Certificate (NOC) from financier
No Trace Report from the police (A 'No Trace Report' is issued by the police if they fail to trace the vehicle within 90 days from the date of theft).

Receive Compensation

The settlement amount is based on the Insured Declared Value (IDV) of your car. The final settled amount might, however, differ based on usage and market value.
If there is an outstanding loan towards the purchase of your car, then Reliance General Insurance will settle the amount directly with the financier.
Inform the insurer in the event the police recovers your car. Reliance General Insurance is liable to pay compensation on damages caused to the vehicle and for stolen items as per the terms of your policy.
